118ml Black Swan uPVC Cement
(Solvent Weld Adhesive)
Black Swan PVC Cement - Medium is a clear, medium-thickness adhesive that is used to join PVC pipes and fittings. It has a medium set time and provides high strength bonds. It can be used with all classes and sizes of PVC pipe and fittings up to 15cm in diameter.
The cement is most effective when used in temperatures between 4.4 and 37.8 degrees Celsius. It meets ASTM D-2564 standards and is listed by NSF International for use in potable water, sewer, drain, and waste & vent systems. The shelf life of the cement is two years from the date on the bottom of the can.
Suggestions for Cementing Pipe in Hot Weather
- Cool pipe by wiping with a damp cloth. Evaporation of moisture from pipe surface will lower its temperature several degrees. Dry before applying cement.
- Wipe pipe with Black Swan's PRIMER. Evaporation of the primer/cleaner will cool the surface of the pipe and fitting and will also start the etching action.
- Keep ends of pipe shaded from hot sun before cementing. Keep fittings shaded also.
- Get pipe into fittings as quickly as possible after applying cement.
Suggestions for Cementing Pipe in Cold Weather
- Keep cement and primer in a warm area prior to use. Make sure cement is fluid.
- Assemble as many joints as possible in a heated work area.
- Clean pipe and fitting thoroughly. Remove all traces of moisture.
- Be patient. It can take 5 times longer for cement to set up in cold weather.
- Never apply heat to a joint to speed up the drying action. This may cause the solvents to evaporate improperly and a successful joint may not be made.
